\nwget http:\/\/downloads.asterisk.org\/pub\/telephony\/asterisk\/asterisk-1.8-current.tar.gz
\nUnpack it
\ntar xvfz asterisk-1.8-current.tar.gz
\nGo down to asterisk unpacked files directory
\nNOTE: You need to do a ls -l to see the directory created from the tar.
\nThis is the latest release
\ncd asterisk-1.8-current
\nDownload mp3 support files
\ncontrib\/scripts\/get_mp3_source.sh
\nRun configure
\n.\/configure
\nStart menu based configuration
\nmake menuconfig
\nselect app_mysql, app_saycountpl, cdr_mysql, format_mp3, res_config_mysql
\ngo to Extras Sound Packages
\nSelect EXTRAS-SOUNDS-EN-GSM
\nSave & Exit
\nRun make
\nmake
\nThen run the installer
\nmake install
\nStop running Asterisk
\namportal stop
\nAnd start the new Asterisk 1.8
